About McAuley Land Surveying, Inc.
McAuley Land Surveying, Inc has been in business since January 2002. The president and major stock holder of the company is James D. McAuley. After receiving a degree in Land Surveying and a degree in Civil Engineering he started working for a local land surveyor in his home town of Sanford, North Carolina.
Upon moving to the Charlotte area in 1985 he started working for a local company that offered Land Surveying and Civil Engineering services. Working for this type of company gave him the experience needed to design and draw most any residential or commercial subdivision from erosion control plans all the way through to final as builts.
In 2003 after also receiving his public utilities license he started a Grading and Construction Company that also performed all land surveying services in house. The company grew to over 90 employees and performed almost $10 million dollars of construction and land surveying services in 2007.
McAuley Land Surveying just completed a survey for me yesterday, for my single-family home in Charlotte. I very seldom bother to write reviews but these guys absolutely deserve one here. I obviously can't speak to other clients' experiences on this review site but can only share my own. Several months ago a neighbor's HUGE hazardous tree crashed down from the middle of their yard in the wee hours of a completely calm night, crushing about 40% of our home. (It was in fact a miracle that two of our kids, trapped under it, weren't killed.) This is just background to explain that I came to realize, after many months of designing the repair/renovation, that I'd need a legal survey to prove to Zoning that the enlarged footprint would still be within the req'd. side-yard setback. I made a mistake that wasted a couple of weeks, with giving the task to one of the first surveyors I phoned, because he offered the lowest price, although he was oddly unprofessional on the phone and ultimately completely AWOL in communication to my texts and emails and voicemails. The second one I then chose never delivered the promised email followup, and acted nearly clueless many days later when I reminded him. Since his available date was about three weeks away, I instead chose McAuley who I'd also reached out to, who was the same reasonable fee but able to do the survey less than a week from my request; about two weeks earlier than surveyor #2. (Third time's a charm, as they say.) McCauley was extremely communicative (they "get it" that that matters to clients); showed up exactly when promised, in fact a few minutes earlier; and simply did what they said they would do at every step of the way. As a landscape architect, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend these guys to any of my own clients when their projects' need might arise....and that's something I can't truly say with 100% confidence about a lot of contractors I work with.
Great, easy experience! I had them do a fence line survey and they were able to come out just a couple days after I contacted them. They put the stakes in the ground and I had a PDF survey a few days after that. Very easy to communicate with and work with, would definitely use again!
Awesome Company, they arrived early had my survey ready within days. The Surveyor walked my property line and explained everything
